Once feared as "Kuro of the Thousand Plans," this fellow escaped the Navy, itself, for three years, in a brilliantly-crafted plot to find "wealth" and "peace of mind." When the life of a pirate taxed him one too far, he gave it up, essentially surrendering his name as a pirate and a man to search for his goals. He retreated to Syrup Village, where he cared for an ill girl named Kaya, waited, and sprung his trap after three long years.
Leader of the Black Cat Pirates in a former life, Kuro was by no means a slouch as a captain. His knowledge and wit are definitely a cut-above, and even in battle, despite his frail appearance, Kuro is a deadly foe. The famed Nukiashi technique which made him famous was, simply, a super-speed movement beyond normal human eyes. And, when taken to the utmost, the Shakushi move is born: THAT is a series of blinding-fast strikes with his Cat Paws, so fast that even he isn't aware of who (or what) he's attacking.
Put simply, Kuro is an arrogant ass. He cares nothing for others save himself, believes all his works infallible, and is, in general, a poor excuse for a human (though a fine example of a pirate).
Kuro's Past
The name of "Kuro" was once feared across the Eastern Blue, a testament to his ferocity and his wit. It was he who, by legend told, crafted the most amazing plans and schemes that never went awry. For an unknown period, Kuro sailed the Blue, pillaging and slaughtering. But, the life of a pirate is one of hassle, and so on one fine night, three years ago, he decided he had to die.
Single-handedly he slew a Naval ship's regiment, leaving only one man -- the one who would later be known as "Axe-Arm" Morgan -- to claim the reward of the famed Captain Kuro. All it really took to fool the Navy was a crewman of his, Nugire Yainu, hypnotised along with Morgan to further the plan. As was his plan, Kuro then escaped to a small island where Syrup Village lay, where he adopted the name of "Klahadore" and became a butler for a wealthy family.
Three years passed, and the parents of the clan died, leaving only their daughter Kaya as the heir of their fortune. Whether they died of illness or foul play is uncertain, but it doesn't really matter. Kaya, overwhelmed by the death of both her mother and father, fell deathly ill, and "Klahadore" tended to her with the virtues of a saint.
All of it was for the day he could kill her and take her fortune. But, as fortune would have it, Kuro picked a lousy time to carry out his plan, and paid the piper for it. They do say that the bell tolls for those who deserve it most...
