Over a course of 400 chapters and counting, the Straw Hat crew has been through a lot together. Here is a list of all of story arcs and sagas and when they occur in the manga.
You've seen the Kyoto arc of Rurouni Kenshin, and the Red Ribbon arc of Dragonball, but have you seen the Davy Back Fight arc of One Piece? Little Garden? ARLONG!!? Thus far, SEVENTEEN story arcs have been published (or are being published), with more on the way. Starting in East Blue as a one-man pirate crew, Monkey D. Luffy quickly amasses a wondrous crew of misfits and odd-ones-out who he finds himself proud to call his nakama. From there he advances from obscurity to a 30,000,000 Belly bounty, infamy in the East Blue, and of course, into that hotbed of danger they call the Pirate's Graveyard, the GRAND LINE!!

Side Stories
As One Piece progresses, varieties of characters, good or bad, are left behind to make room for anew. As a way to preserve and update the development of these characters, Oda-sensei has introduced "side stories". Side stories (aka. Mini Arcs) are stories focused on characters (mostly villains) from the past main story arc. These side stories appear on the title pages of One Piece manga chapters and are presented on a a-frame-per-chapter basis.
