  • Quick Summary:

Luffy and company reach an island in their search for supples and encountering Usopp, an eleged pirate captain (who leads an army of 8,000 men! ...okay, it's just three kids...) who is really just an average village boy. Every morning he runs through the village and warns everyone that pirates are coming, but it's always a lie. As they eat at a restaurant, Nami asks where they can find a ship, and Usopp says they won't find any in town. One place they could go is a mansion owned by a young girl whose parents passed away. Before the chapter ends, the owner of the mansion, Kaya, tells one of her butlers she wants to see Usopp...

  • In-Depth Summary:

Nami begins to discuss with the others that they wouldn't survive out in the Grand Line without a good ship. She looks at a map and says that a village is nearby, so they should head there to possibly find one. The scene changes to a village boy named Usopp looking out at the ocean. He runs through his village screaming that pirates are coming, and eventually shouts it was only a lie. He manages to escape from the villagers chasing him because of his childish prank and is found by two of his crew members. The other member of Usopp's Pirates isn't with them, but suddenly runs towards them screaming that pirates are coming! They think he's lying at first, but he says it's true (and mentions one of the boats has the mark of Buggy the Clown...). Usopp decides to go and defend the village, after learning there are only three people...

The three pirates reach shore as Usopp's Pirates spy on them. The three kids run off when Zoro points them out, but Usopp stays. He claims to be a notorious pirate captain with a crew of 8,000 men, but Nami says it's a lie (which he accidentally admits to). They head to a restaurant in the village and eat. Usopp tells them that the only place in the village they might be able to find a ship is a mansion owned by a young girl whose parents died a year ago (she's been bedridden ever since from illness). When Luffy decides to get some supplies before leaving, Usopp offers to become their captain (but is turned down). Before the chapter ends the owner of the mansion, Kaya, tells one of her butlers she wants to see Usopp...
