Nami, the pirate thief, confronts Luffy who just beat up some of Buggy's pirates and asks if he wants to team up with her (who refuses and walks off). A quick scene is shown introducing Buggy, who is complaining about the map that Nami stole not being recovered. One of his underlings tries to explain how she might have stolen it, only to have be misinterpreted into making fun of Buggy's nose. He is lifted by the power of the Devil Fruit (not actually shown HOW mind you) and is killed by a Buggy Ball (a very explosive cannon ball).
The scene then goes to Nami and Luffy in an empty house. According to her, everyone evacuated town because Buggy, a cannon-happy pirate who is a little touchy about his clown nose, and his crew made base in the tavern. Nami then tells of her plans of collecting 100 million Berries so she can buy a village, and asks again for him to team up with her. Luffy asks if she's anygood at navigating (she says yes), and asks if she wants to join his pirate crew. She suddenly has a change of heart and says to forget about it. Nami says that she hates pirates, but loves money and tangerines. She gets an idea when Luffy asks again, and would only join if he goes with her to see Buggy. They leave and Nami carries a rope with her. When the tavern is in view, Nami ties him up!
The three pirates that Luffy beat up earlier are being yelled at by their captain, but are saved when another of Buggy's underlings says the map-theif wants to see him. Nami gives Luffy to him, saying she brought the theif (claimed he was her boss) and asks to join. Buggy lets her join, and Luffy is locked up in a cage. Zoro and the three pirates HE beat up finally reach town, and he asks to see Buggy (thinks he may know were Luffy is).
