One Piece Volume 3 : That Which Cannot be Pretended
Covering chapters 18 through 26, Volume 3 of One Piece -- known alternatively as "That Which Cannot be Pretended" (Stephen) and "Don't Get Fooled Again" (Viz) -- is the intro point for the Great Destroyer, Captain Usopp! Yes, yes, he starts off seeming like a weak little village boy, but he's got spunk even in these early pages! Promise!
Also of note is that the battle with Buggy finishes, comprising all of Luffy vs. Buggy (chapters 18-20), and also finishing out the storyline with Boodle's town. A "bonus" chapter is located here, in the form of Chapter 22, a short story with a fellow with a heart of gold, Gaimon, who stayed for twenty years on the island of strange animals in search of a lost treasure. Afterwards, the crew heads off to Syrup Village, where they meet the "Dread Captain Usopp" and his crew of little kids, named after vegetables.
The Viz translation, here, pulls its punches -- "blast you" instead of "damn you," and so on; the translation does retain accuracy and enjoyment at the expense of pirate talk and somewhat strained dialogue. As always, sound effects are translated. This really isn't a remarkable Viz-Media volume.
