One Piece Volume 4 : Crescent Moon
You may or may not have heard the story of "The Boy Who Cried Wolf." In Usopp's case, his life had led up to that point, where his lies culminated in tragedy for himself and, potentially, all the people he cared for. When rejected by the villagers, by his crew, and even by Kaya, herself, Usopp vows to fight back against the Black Cats who will invade the village at dawn. He thinks he's alone, but what he hadn't counted on was the arrival of three variables: Luffy, Zoro, and Nami.
In the previous volume, "That Which Cannot Be Pretended", you met Usopp. Here, you see him stand up for the first time in his life to protect that which is important... That which "cannot be pretended"!
Viz's translation here is, as usual, pretty much spot-on, with a few expenditures made to "Americanize" and "modernize" the story's dialogue. Zoro's "Tora Gari" is dubbed "Tiger Trap," which actually seems to be a viable translation; but they changed it back during volume 6 for whatever reason. Curses are cut out, as usual, and even "What the hell is going on!!?" is translated as "What in Neptune's name is going on!!?" again, for whatever reason.
